You don’t need the right words yet. Send a short inquiry, call, or text, and we’ll help you find where to begin.
Why the Becoming Institute exists
There are many approaches to treating unwanted sexual behavior, sex addiction, and betrayal trauma. Yet there is a tremendous lack of focus on pursuing a healthy sexual life, and on living by the principles that are essential to it.
We created the Becoming Institute to change that. We don’t just treat the problem. We give recovery a lens centered on an integrated, healthy sexual life.
Who we serve
- Individuals experiencing sex addiction or unwanted sexual behavior.
- Betrayed partners seeking support for their own needs.
- Couples seeking help with the effects of sex addiction and betrayal.
Our approach
Our care is guided by the Becoming Approach. It connects the practical work of recovery with a vision of healthy sexuality and a process for meaningful transformation.
Partner support stands on its own. We do not assume every partner wants to remain in the relationship or take part in couples work.

Specialized training
Every clinician here focuses on sex addiction and betrayal. Two certifications shape our work:
Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT). CSATs are trained to treat sex addiction and compulsive sexual behavior through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). Kyle M. Reid is a CSAT Supervisor (CSAT-S) and a member of IITAP. Our team includes CSATs and a CSAT candidate, and every group is led by a CSAT or a therapist working under CSAT supervision.
Certified Partner Trauma Therapist (CPTT). CPTTs are trained to care for partners after sexual betrayal, with a focus on the partner’s own trauma and needs. Kyle and Jennifer Atkinson hold this certification.
